+ Described as "an island on dry land", Monte Amiata is one of the best-conserved Tuscan landscapes.

+ Historically, Amiata has been a point of contact between the Sienese culture and that of the Maremma, and from this meeting has developed a unique civilization, rich in tradition.

+ Monte Amiata is characterized by dense beech woods and sweet chestnuts and has six nature reserves. Seggiano, a medieval borgo in the valley of the torrent Vivo with its original structure still intact, is completely surrounded by century-old olives.

+ Il Silene is a little above Seggiano in a village called Pescina, an ideal starting point for excursions to nearby places of interest such as Pienza, Montalcino, Maremma and the Parco Naturale della Val d'Orcia.
